Social Media On The News

Tonight while watching the news they were covering the story of how Deron Williams was traded and how you can tweet about it or comment on Facebook.  They read some of the tweets and the facebook comments on air.  I thought it was very odd for the news to read tweets and Facebook comments on the air, but  I guess it can be viewed as a good way to get opinions of many people without going out on the streets and talking to random people.
